The Guidance Center’s doctoral internship program is a 12-month APA accredited* internship, starting on August 1 (or the first Monday after August 1-if a weekend) and concluding the following year on July 31 (or the last Friday of July if the 31 is a weekend). The two individuals selected for the internship will receive a $34,074.82 annual stipend, plus benefits. In keeping with the general mission and philosophy of the training program, the internship is designed to assist interns in developing scientific and practice skills appropriate to those of a generalist working with children, adults, families, and couples. The community mental health center setting allows exposure to a plethora of experiences and modalities. Interns are provided with their own office space, which comes equipped with all necessary systems and supports to complete all work activities. Each office is equipped with a phone and computer, which provides interns with access to The Guidance Center’s electronic medical records, internet, email system, internal server, printing capabilities, and instant messaging. The Guidance Center has clerical staff to assist with: appointment scheduling, billing, coding, credentialing, and maintenance of medical records. Furthermore, Information Technology staff is available in person, via phone, and via email to assist with any technical support. The Guidance Center also contracts with an agency for technical support, which is accessible to interns via phone, email, and when necessary, in person.
